Pfizer Considers Non-prescription Products Sale

Pharmaceutical giant, Pfizer, is contemplating the sale of its consumer healthcare business to concentrate its efforts on its prescription drug business.  The company has such familiar over-the-counter brands as Advil, Centrum vitamins, Chapstick and Robitussin in its “medicine chest”.   In 2016, the consumer health products unit represented about 6.5 percent of total revenues, $3.4 billion of the $52.8 billion company total.

A decision on the future of Pfizer’s consumer healthcare business will be made in 2018.
