Smartphone Relays Heart Monitor Data

The University of Colorado Hospital is the first hospital in the west to offer a cardiac monitoring system  that connects an implanted chest monitor to a smart phone app.   Heart monitoring data is automatically collected and remotely relayed to the appropriate medical staff for review using the MyMerlin mobile app.

The new technology is known as Confirm Rx Insertable Cardiac Monitor ( ICM) and is offered by Lake Bluff, Ill.-based Abbott Laboratories.
