‘Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals for 2018’

Six Colorado hospitals have been included in the 2018 edition of ‘Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals’.   The survey stratifies hospitals by five peer comparison groups:  major teaching, teaching, large community, medium community, and small community hospitals.

This year’s recognitions went to Rose Medical Center – Denver;  St. Anthony Summit Medical Center – Frisco;  Sky Ridge Medical Center – Lone Tree;  UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies – Loveland;  UCHealth Poudre Valley Hospital – Ft. Collins; and UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital – Aurora.

IBM Watson Health reviews 11 clinical and operational benchmarks from independent public data to determine which of the 2,840 acute care, non-federal U.S. hospitals should make the top 100 list.   The research  has found that these top performing hospitals are able to improve outcomes, reduce overall expenses per patient, and receive higher patient satisfaction scores than their peers.  IBM Watson Health, (formerly Truven Health Analytics and before that the health-care business sector of Thomson Reuters), has been conducting this annual hospital survey for 25 years.
