Abrupt Change in Leadership at Cortez Hospital

On April 6, Cortez-based Southwest Health System announced the release of three top executives from its leadership team.  The three released are: CEO Kent Rogers, Chief Nursing Officer Karen Pasquin and Chief Ambulatory Services Officer Ken Boucher.  No formal reason was given for the dismissals other than “a change in leadership direction”.   Chairman of the Board, Paul Deshayes, sited lack of growth and State Medicaid reimbursement issues as Board concerns.

Southwest Health System has approached Texas-based Community Hospital Corp., the hospital’s consulting service, for assistance in identifying an interim CEO.  The health System intends to find a replacement for Rogers by April 16.  Surgical Services Director Kerri White and Medical Staff Services Director Shelle Zachary will fill in as CNO and CASO while the organization finds permanent replacements.
