UnitedHealthcare To End Envision Healthcare Contract – Lawsuit Dismissed

UnitedHealthcare has decided to terminate its contract with Envision Healthcare and its subsidiaries over billing practice issues.   The effective date would be January 1, 2019.  A dispute between the two organizations has arisen over out-of-network vs. in-network physician charges that have caught off-guard consumer’s utilizing emergency room services.

A lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court of Southern Florida in March by Envision alleging breach of contract has been dismissed.  The two parties will be going to arbitration over the dispute.

Greenwood Village-based Envision Healthcare merged with Nashville-based Amsurg in December 2016.   The merged company, Envision Healthcare Corp., has headquarters in both Greenwood Village and Nashville.
