Health Insurance Subsidies to Hit Record High

The Congressional Budget Office is out with its projections on the amount that the federal government will pay to subsidize health insurance costs for those under the age of 65.  It is estimated to be close to $700 billion in 2019.  The subsidies will represent approximately 3.4 percent of the GDP.

Following record low numbers of people not carrying insurance under the ACA, it is projected that there will be an upward trend in the number of uninsured into the future.   In any given month in 2019, it is anticipated that around 29 million people will not be insured.
