
Stanley “Jack” Locke, MD, passed away on May 25 from complications of Parkinson’s disease. He was well known for his decades long practice as a family physician in Colorado as well as his commitment to rural health care.
Following a residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the late sixties, he set up a family practice in Lamar. In 1978, Governor Dick Lamm appointed him to spearhead the Rural Health Department for Colorado. In 1980, he was appointed by President Jimmy Carter to serve on the National Rural Economic Advisory Council. Following his government service, he returned to private practice in Denver until his retirement in 2013.
