President Trump Signs VA Private Sector Option

Yesterday, President Trump signed legislation that would allow expanded access by veterans to private sector medical care in addition to other agency overhauls.    Fulfilling a campaign promise, the President championed the idea that veterans should be able to  “just go see a doctor”.

The bill came to the President’s desk with strong bi-partisan approval.  Criteria and  implementation details for the VA MISSION Act will be the responsibility of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Also included in the Act was the creation of a commission to recommend which VA hospitals are worth repairing, which should be replaced and which should be closed and replaced with private sector options.
