DaVita Divests Its Direct Primary Care Business

DaVita’s  direct primary care business, Paladina Health, has been sold to venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates.   The price tag is estimated at $100 million.  Paladina Health currently operates 50 physician offices in 10 states, including Colorado.

NEA is a global venture capital firm that has principally invested in technology and healthcare companies since its founding in 1977.  Of interest to the investor was Paladina Health’s DPC model that emphasizes a value-based care approach with its fundamental core the coordination of patient services from the primary care provider.
