Transplant Program Voluntarily Suspended at Porter

Porter Hospital has voluntarily decided to suspends its transplant program for 6 to 12 months to thoroughly review and make appropriate changes to its surgical procedures and staffing.   The hospital has contracted with the Florida Hospital Transplant Institute to help oversee the process.

The decision will impact approximately 232 patients who were scheduled for transplant procedures.  The hospital is working with the United Network for Organ Sharing to place its patients with other programs.

All other services at Porter will remain in place during the temporary suspension of the transplant program.
