Trump Administration Health Plans Require a Close Look

The Trump administration’s alternatives to comprehensive and pricey Affordable Care Act policies are association health plans and short-term insurance. They should have lower premiums with skinnier coverage.

President Trump believes insurers are enthusiastic and “millions” will sign up for the offerings. The trade association America’s Health Insurance Plans and Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association
are advocating caution by consumers. In any case, expect some time to pass for carriers to design plans they think will work and for state regulator review and approval.
