“Bonfils” Changes Name with Rebranding to “Vitalant”

On January 1, 2017, Bonfils Blood Center was officially acquired by Blood Systems, a transfusion medicine nonprofit organization headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona.   As of this month, the nationwide organization of 127 donation centers, research institute and specialty laboratory will unite under a common brand name “Vitalant”.

The organization has a presence in 40 states from coast-to-coast and supports the blood needs of nearly 1,000 hospitals and medical facilities.  It has a donor base of more than 780,000 blood donor volunteers who provide 1.8 million donations each year.  In Colorado, Blood Systems currently operates 10 blood centers that provide product to close to 100 health care facilities in the State.
