Governor and AARP Announce “Lifelong Colorado” Initiative

Soon one in four Coloradans will be 6o years of age or older. Programs to help people remain healthy and in their homes are evolving in 24 communities. The Lifelong Colorado initiative seeks to integrate them and support a ‘bottom-up inclusive strategy”.

At a press conference, Governor Hickenlooper and AARP Colorado State Director Bob Murphy announced the joining of AARP’s Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities. Only the third state to do so.

‘Lifelong Colorado” is a collaboration of the Governor’s Office, Department of Local Affairs, Denver Regional Council of Governments, AARP, Colorado Counties Inc, Colorado Municipal League and several communities.

Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers and Lt. Governor Donna Lynne are the co-founders.
