Colorado Recognized Among States with Highest Medicare Value

The Commonwealth Fund is out with its annual “Health Care Quality-Spending Interactive” for Medicare beneficiaries.  Colorado is ranked in the sixth position among the states for its healthcare value in quality and cost measurements.  It shares the sixth ranking with the state of Idaho.  Each is recognized has having 12 percent lower Medicare spending and 20 percent higher quality ranking as compared with other states in the union.

The Commonwealth Fund used 2016 CMS data for Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries excluding Part D to come up the rankings. The survey compares healthcare spending per beneficiary with quality measures state-by-state.
