Mental Health Hospital on Western Slope Doubles Size

The grand opening of the newly expanded West Springs Hospital in Grand Junction is scheduled for December 5. The facility is the only mental health hospital between Denver and Salt Lake City.   The expansion will double the number of available beds from the current 32 to 64 beds.

The expansion will give the hospital the space for a special care center for children & adolescents and help off-set the average daily waiting list of 8 to 12 people.  The added capacity will allow for the continued high quality care that the hospital is known for giving.  The average length of stay for adults at West Springs is 7 days which is 30 percent less than the national average.  Additionally, re-admissions within 30 days of discharge are 4 percent, significantly outpacing the national average of 20 percent.
