Two of the Greenest Hospitals In America are in Colorado

Hospitals across the nation are improving the health of their communities and becoming more cost-effective by taking steps to be more environmentally friendly and sustainable.

The editorial staff of Becker’s Hospital Review developed the list of 68 hospitals who have made inroad in this area.

Aspen Valley Hospital earned recognition for a 2017 hospital program called “Green Up, Clean Up”, a program dedicated to reducing and recycling hospital waste. This spring, it initiated its “Think Before You Print” campaign to reduce paper-generated waste.

Littleton Adventist Hospital developed a green team in 2008. The hospital is promoting an environmentally responsible culture to implement green initiatives throughout the system. The hospital has received Top 25 Environmental Excellence awards in both 2014 and 2015. The Environmental Protection Agency awarded the hospital four Energy Star awards for many energy-reduction initiatives.
