Percentage of Women in Healthcare C-suites Unrepresentative of Industry Demographic

New research from Oliver Wyman reports  that although women represent 65 percent of the healthcare workforce they make up only 30 percent of senior leadership positions.  Women hold 30 percent of COO, 23 percent of CFO and 13 percent of CEO positions in healthcare organizations, nationwide.

Oliver Wyman, an international management consulting firm based in New York City, profiled 130 payer and provider boards to extrapolate its findings.  The profiled organizations represented 70 percent of market revenue for the industry and the survey analyzed the paths to the CEO position of 110 individuals.

In a survey by the consultancy Ernst & Young, it was reported that in 2015 there were more male CEOs named John than female CEOs combined across the industry.
