Talks to add Community Hospital in Grand Junction to the Centura Health network have ended.  Details of the negotiations were not shared but the hospital and its board of directors have decided to remain an independent facility.  During due diligence, the two organizations were discussing a “membership substitution”, non-cash arrangement in which Centura Health would absorb the liabilities of Community Hospital and give the hospital corporate member status in its network.

Community Hospital and Centura Health signed a letter-of-intent to pursue exclusive negotiations on a merger back in October of 2018.  The partnership would have been the third hospital for Centura Health on the Western Slope.  It currently includes in its network Mercy Medical Center in Durango which serves the southwestern corner of the State and St. Anthony Summit Medical Center in Frisco.
