Name for Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway, JPMorgan Chase Healthcare Venture Announced

Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway, and JPMorgan Chase, (ABC) have announced the name of their joint venture.  It will be called HAVEN.   In January of last year, the three mega-employers announced their plans to create a healthcare organization with the mission of cutting healthcare costs for their U.S. employees.

The venture selected Atul Gawande, MD as its founding chief executive officer  in June.   At the time of his appointment, Gawande was a surgeon at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and a professor at both the medical and public health schools at Harvard.  He was a staff writer at The New Yorker and author of four well received books including Being Mortal and The Checklist Manifesto.

Initially, Haven will focus on easier access to primary care, and reducing the cost of both medical care and prescription drugs for its founders employees.
