JoAnn Lamphere, DrPH

Jo Ann Lamphere, a Principal in the Colorado office of Health Management Associates, just moved to Denver from Washington, DC. She was drawn to CO for its mountains and outdoor lifestyle. JoAnn is a self-described “policy wonk.” She consults with private sector organizations that are stimulating improvements in health care delivery, especially preparing them for how to offer quality services to new and complex population groups. She also partners with aging and disability organizations to increase their business capabilities for delivering managed long-term services and supports.

JoAnn LamphereDr. Lamphere came to HMA from AARP, where she served as State Government Relations Director for the Health & Long-term Care team. She provided leadership and overall direction to a legislative team in support of AARP’s consumer advocacy vision and its fifty-three state offices. She assisted state-level AARP leaders in assessing policy trade-offs, determining legislative priorities, and effectively communicating with stakeholders and members on health care reforms and long-term care services.

Jo Ann served six years as a senior consultant with The Lewin Group, and directed research projects and analyses designed to improve coverage and health care payment policies at the national and state levels. Earlier in her career, she served as Principal Policy Analyst with the NYS Department of Health. JoAnn earned her Doctorate in Public Health at Columbia University.  She served as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Maryland and is a noted author and frequent lecturer and trainer.

Hiking, biking and skiing are all activities that JoAnn pursues. Early in January, she hiked to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro (19,000 ft. elevation) in Africa before moving to Denver.
